Who is Stager's Store?

Stager's Store is a family-owned store in Portage Pa. The store was founded by Chester (Jake) Stager Sr, and now is being operated by the third generation of the Stager family. Chester was recycling scrap metal and after World War II he started selling army surplus. In the 1960's he began selling hardware items and then groceries. At that time Stager's Store was located on North Railroad Avenue and then in 1984 he purchased the former Rosia Shoe factory and moved the store there. The move into the 70,000 square foot facility enabled Chester to expand the store's offerings to include groceries, fresh meat, fresh deli, clothing, boots, sporting goods and True Value hardware, all at STAGER'S LOW PRICES.
